This was quite an adventure, Thalleous. Thank you for having me along.
— Senn

Senn is one of the major protagonists in Songs of War. Senn was born to a male Sendaris and a female Voltaris, with both of them getting killed in battle by the Voltaris after the father gave him to Thalleous Sendaris. As his parents were from different clans, Senn appeared to be a clanless Ardoni as shown by his white markings. Due to the fact that he travelled so much, Thalleous gave Senn to Osivian Sendaris who named him after his clan. Senn learned about his lineage from his brother Almrak Voltaris, and after learning that Ingressus Voltaris was only trying to reunite the Voltaris with the other clans, Senn promised him that he will make sure that this was going to happen, with Ingressus succumbing to the wounds that he received from his battle with Pythus soon after. Following the second great war, Senn became Voltaris' master and initiated several Ardoni who wished to do so into Voltaris, as all of the pure-blooded Voltaris perished during the war. The clan was also accepted back among the Ardoni clans.

Lore

His full name is Senn Voltaris. He is one of the three main characters of Songs of War.

Early life

Senn was born some years before the Second Great War, and he was one of the children of a Sendaris male and a Voltaris female. As their love was forbidden, he remained a clanless Ardoni with white markings due to not being able to be initiated properly into any clan. His brothers were Deltheus and Almrak, and presumably there are more who do not appear. When he was very young, his father saw it dangerous to know who the child's mother is, so he took him with Thalleous Sendaris and asked him to take him to a safe place while his mother returns with the rest of the children. Thalleous initially refused, as he swore to destroy the Voltaris, but suddenly a Song killed the Sendaris and left Thalleous alone with the child, so he decided to take him with him. Thalleous looked for someone who wanted to take care of a child, because with all his trips he could not. But no one would want a clanless child, apart from Osivian Sendaris, who agreed to raise him as part of his family in Sendaria, and he named him "Senn" after the Sendaris clan. During his life, Osivian had never spoken to Senn about his parents or where is he from, and in some ways overprotected him. Senn formed a strong friendship with his adoptive sister, Ria Sendaris, and they always talked about someday going on adventures together, as Thalleous visited them from time to time and told them stories of the trips he made. Senn had also demonstrated skill in forging, for in his room he had iron tools and weapons that he himself made.

Episode 2

One day Senn and Ria are training in combat, and Senn uses the occasion to give Ria an iron spear that he himself forged. Ria is delighted with the weapon and is about to test it, but is surprised by Thalleous. He praises Senn's weapon and gifts them Songs: a Protisium Song for Senn, and a Mobilium Song for Ria. He tells them that wielding Songs is their unique ability to harness their power, and to deny their use is to deny what makes them Ardoni. Osivian then arrives at the scene and welcomes Thalleous, while scolding Senn and Ria, as he ordered them to keep away from each other. Osivian orders them both to go to their respective rooms while he speaks to Thalleous about the reason for his visit. Senn went to his room while greeting his adoptive brothers on the way, and inspects and observes the Song that Thalleous gave him.

At night, Senn sneaks to the Shrine of Sendaria, where he surprises Ria while she observes her Song in the moonlight. Both speak about neither of them going out on adventures like the ones Thalleous tells due to the circumstances of their sheltered life. Senn escorts Ria to her room, and then sneaks to the main cave to listen to the conversation between Thalleous and Osivian. They catch him spying, and Osivian resolves to punish him harder, but Thalleous convinces him to let him take him on his journey to discipline him himself. Senn shows great excitement about the trip, but feels sympathy for Ria, who would have wanted to come with them. Thalleous asks him to sleep, as a long journey awaits them.

Episode 3

Senn and Thalleous travel through the woods south of Sendaria and west through Biggerton. Thalleous reveals the reason for his journey to Senn: transporting the Mobilium Prime to a safer location. He also reveals that after the Great War, the Prime Songs were given to families from each clan, so that the Voltaris would not find them with as much ease. Thalleous has already transported the other Prime Songs to safer locations.

Episode 4

Thalleous and Senn travel to Oakendale, where they take a beacon to Crown Peak. There, Thalleous and Senn head to the Crownwood neighbourhood to visit Sulliman, whom Thalleous entrusts with the Mobilium Prime. Senn catches a glimpse of Sulliman's secretive potion business, and grows concerned about the Mobilium Prime's security in his hands. Thalleous insists that Sulliman's skill of managing a black market potion business should keep the Prime Song safe.

Episode 5

At night at an inn in Biggerton, Senn lays awake looking at his Protisium Song. He notices Thalleous's bed is empty, and finds him on the balcony. Thalleous explains that a lifetime of Songs has had "adverse effects" on his health. Senn asks if Thalleous knows where he comes from, to which Thalleous tells a portion of the truth: Senn's family were killed by the Voltaris. He also reveals that Senn's name comes from "Sendaria", and that Osivian (the only parent to accept a clanless adoptive child) named him such so that he would "always have a place to return to". At the end of the episode, they return to Sendaria and find it up in flames.

Episode 6

Senn and Thalleous find that, unsurprisingly, the Voltaris are behind the attack on Sendaria. They are ambushed while escaping on the way to Ataraxia, and Thalleous orders Senn to run as he fights off the Voltaris. Senn is attacked by a hidden Voltaris on his way, but is saved by Timber and escapes on his back as he sees Tygren kill Thalleous.

Episode 7

Senn and Timber arrive at Hogtown but find little help from the simple-minded, simple-lived townspeople, who also discriminate against him for being an Ardoni. He soon meets Igneous, who had also suffered racism from the town for being a magnorite, and they leave together for Biggerton to buy a map and find Ataraxia.

Episode 8

Outside Biggerton, Senn and Igneous are ambushed by Jalkar, who attempts to steal Timber in a desperate attempt to get away from Abbigail. Igneous sends Jalkar fleeing with a single punch and they continue, but are discriminated against once again in Biggerton. They meet Abbigail, who lets them use her map so that they can find Ataraxia. Eventually, when they arrive, Senn is pulled into the river and examined by the Guardians.

Episode 9

Senn is examined by the Elder Guardian and harshly cast out of the water. The Guardians conclude that they are safe and make a bridge for Senn, Igneous and Timber. Igneous concludes that the Guardians must have been trying to figure out which clan Senn comes from, which is reinforced as a distorted "Whose child is this" can be heard in the flash of Senn's memories.

Episode 10

Senn and Igneous arrive at the edge of the cliff and see the beauty of Ataraxia. They stable Timber and are offered to join the Knights of Ardonia by Hubris Nestoris, who fears a war is coming all around Ardonia. Senn decides to take some time first. They then meet Galleous Sendaris, who Senn initially confusedly mistakes for Thalleous from behind. Senn is given the unfortunate responsibility of revealing that Thalleous died to the Voltaris. Like Hubris, Galleous fears that a large-scale conflict is coming around Ardonia, as he knows of the major happenings around the land. He encourages Igneous to head south and resolve the conflict between K'arthen and Cydonia to unify their large militaries, and gives him some gold to travel there and find Aren the Fletcher in Meridian. With Igneous gone, Senn soon finds out about the necromancers in Felden and Luna's hatching in Conchord. He goes on to train under Galleous for seven months.

Trivia

  • Senn has appeared in every episode besides Episode 1, 18, and 26, which means that his total number of appearances becomes 27 episodes, the second most after Abbigail, showing his great importance in the series.
  • Senn is presumed to have a crush on Ria which Ria shares with Senn. This is theorized by the way they act with each other, their reactions when reunited both times and Grek's short conversation with Senn about him and Ria's relationship, in which Senn acts shyly and slightly embarrassed.
